Review of the Maybelline Color Sensational Color Whisper

During our honeymoon for the past couple of weeks, the lip product that I have  been constantly reaching for has to be the Maybelline Color Whisper. On hot summer days, I like to keep my look natural so I have been skipping the lipstick and opting to use a lip butter to add a dash of colour to my face.

I like the fact that Maybelline decided to compete with Revlon when it came to the lip butter market - don't get me wrong, I love the Revlon Lip butters but it is nice to have a cheaper a cheaper alternative available too.

The Maybelline color whispers come in a range of different colours and even though only one shade is pictured above, I actually own a few different colours but didn't have the time to take photos of them before we left for Europe.

I have noticed that the formula and colour payoff for these color whispers actually differs between colours - for example, the colour pictured above is called 'Petal Rebel' which looks like a bright pink in the packaging but looks much more natural when applied onto the skin. The colour is sheer and it takes around two or three coats in order to get decent colour payoff.

Other shades in the range, such as "who wore it redder" is a beautiful vibrant candy red which does not need multiple coats in order to be an opaque colour on the lips.

I find that these Maybelline color whispers are very comfortable to wear although they are not as hydrating as the Revlon lip butters. They by no means make my lips feel dry - but I just feel that the Revlon ones are richer in consistency if you know what I mean.

Just like the Revlon lip butters these don't have the best lasting power because they are so shiny, however given that they come in such pretty packaging I don't mind having to reapply them often.

Overall I think that these are a great products and I absolutely love to wear them in summer as they provide the perfect hint of colour and shine, in the one product. They come in a great range of colours that are different to Revlon lip butters so there is room for both in my makeup collection.

These Maybelline Color Whispers retail at $14.95 at my local Priceline although you can find them cheaper as they tend to go on sale quite often.

I have been loving this lippie lately! I also have it in "Lust For Blush" which I think I actually like more. Best yet, they are cheap (by Aussie standards). I agree with the Revlon Lip Butters being better. Great review :)

I love the Maybelline Colour Whisper for an everyday look. My personal favourite is 'Mad for Magenta', which is more of a brighter pink than 'Petal Rebel'. Although, I've never used that colour so I'll have to check it out. Great review! :)
