My experience with the Clarisonic

Hey Beauties

I hope that you have had a great weekend. I thought I would start off this week by doing a quick review of a product on which have received a lot of attention over the past year - the Clarisonic.

I have tried both the Clarisonic Mia and the Clarisonic Plus so I will be doing a review of both of these together. The differences between the two are pretty minor in my opinion so I don't think that they warrant separate reviews.

The Mia is smaller and has only one speed. In comparison, the Plus is larger, has 3 speeds, you can use a body brush with it and comes with a cradle for charging. Other that the things that I have pointed out, they work exactly the same.

Before I purchased my Clarisonic Plus (the Mia is not mine by the way), I had read many reviews about how amazing this product is for your skin. After reading all these positive reviews, I was keen to jump on the bandwagon. Its not as if this product is super cheap, I looked at it as more of a skincare investment.

At first I thought this product was amazing, my skin had never felt cleaner! The appearance of my pores greatly improved and I did not experience any breakouts whatsoever from using this product. However, after around 2 months of using this product once a day, every day - this is when I started to experience breakouts. My skin had never been worse!

From what I had read about this product, I understood that your skin goes through the purging stage (which involves breakouts) when you first start using the product not after a few months. I sent a query to Clarisonic asking about this and they just replied with a link to their website explaining the purging stage, not really providing me an answer to my question.

In order to get on top of the breakouts, I stopped using this product for a while. Once my skin got better, I significantly reduced my use of my Clarisonic. I now use it 2-3 times a week and that's it. It has now been around 5 months I have been using the Clarisonic and it is still causing breakouts for me. I don't think that this is normal especially since my skin was not prone to breakouts prior to using this product.

Overall, I think that this product is probably a bit overrated. I know that it works for some people, but I am starting to realise that maybe it is just not for me. I am trying not to give up on it though because I paid a lot of money for my Clarisonic Plus and would feel like it was a complete waste if I stop using it. I have hardly had any use of the body brush and I barely ever change the bush speed so I can't justify the extra money I spent on getting the Plus model rather than the Mia. Looking back, I wish that I had purchased the Mia instead because it does exactly the same thing at a more affordable price.

This review is just my personal experience with the Clarisonic. It's not a product that I would personally recommend. It's not as if I hate it but I don't think that it is amazing either. Do you own a Clarisonic? How has it worked for you?

I don't own a Clarisonic and honestly I don't think I want to. I just don't see the need in my routine, and I don't see all that many positive reviews :/

I've been surfing online more than 2 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all web owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before.

This was so interesting Billi. As you said people usually think its amazing and go on and on about it. Ive never used one so i cant really share an experience. I was always keen to own one but if i got breakouts frequantly from using it id get a bit upset. After all, that what we try to avoid when it comes to skincare.
