L'Oreal Elvive Anti-Breakage Conditioning Care Spray Review

I have very dry, damaged hair so I am always on the lookout for a product that will condition and improve its condition. L'Oreal Elvive anti-breakage conditioning spray was one of my latest impulse buys in order to try and tackle this problem.

The product claims to "restore strength to damaged and very brittle hair. It contains ceramide-cement, a replica of hair’s natural cement, which targets damaged areas to fill micro-splits and seal the hair’s cuticle. It protects damaged, stressed and brittle hair and makes the hair fibre stronger and more resilient with a smoother, shinier surface. Hair is instantly detangled, manageable and strengthened from root to tip."

Given that I had always really liked L'Oreal products, I thought that this product was a great buy and value for money, retailing at $6.95 for a generous 125ml bottle.

In all honesty, I have been really disappointed with this product. I feel that it does absolutely nothing for my hair when I use it. At one stage I even thought that I wasn't applying enough of this product so I sprayed almost a quarter of the bottle on my hair - big mistake! Doing this only made my hair more dry and brittle that I ended up having to wash my hair again in order to get the product out.

As a result of this experience, I think this product is definitely not for damaged hair because it is not conditioning whatsoever. It seems that the more you apply, the more it dehydrates your hair and makes it feel like straw! This is quite surprising given that usually when I apply too much of a conditioning product, they tend to make my hair oily rather than dry. It also doesn't really work as a detangler since it is so drying. On the positive side, it does smell nice.

Given that it was a drugstore product, I didn't expect this product to perform miracles but I did expect more from it.

Have you ever tried a product that did the opposite of what it claimed?

It is a shame when your excited about using a product and it does nothing for you that it says it will. The john frieda lightening spray did siltch for me when i was bleach blonde. It said it would lighten it, no chance. Now that i think of it the john frieda toner shampoo did nothing for me at reducing the brassiness, hence why im brown again. Such a shame and waste of $$

I get products that don't do what they advertise, but the opposite of it, now that's a Rort!

Interesting. I've never had a product do opposite of what it claims. Perhaps you should give natural methods a try? Like a hair mask with olive oil or egg yolk? :)

That's a shame. I don't think I've ever tried a product that did the opposite of what it claimed. I've had products who don't do much and I too am on the search for a hair product that will fix my dry and damaged hair!

I have a similar problem with my Nexxus Split End Repair Leave In Creme. If I put more than a coin size amount in my hair it does the opposite of what the treatment says. I was very heavy handed and put it all through my hair and it was stiff, crispy and brittle. I had to wash it out.
